Comic Strip
Create an 8 box comic strip to retell a historic event that happened in your Latin American country. Your comic strip must have color and text bubbles. On the back of the comic strip, write a least one paragraph explaining the event you chose to illustrate.

Postcard (20 points)

Select 5 country aspects and create a post card. Think about what a real postcard looks like before you start. On the front put the country name and pictures of sights to see, famous landmark, attractions or other items that represent that country. On the back write the postcard to a family member or friends describing all the amazing aspects of this country from your prospective as tourist.  Please also include the thoughts /feelings a tourist would feel when visiting this country and various aspects of its country/culture.

Cultural Poster or ePoster (20 points)

Research your Latin American Country using books, the Internet and databases.  You must include at least 20 facts and have a minimum of 5 different aspects on your poster board or digital ePoster.  Put the information together in a mural type poster or make a digital poster online using Glogster, Smore or Canva.  Make sure your poster includes the facts with illustrations that match the facts.  Listing the facts would not fit this description!


CD Cover (20 points)

Using an empty CD case, insert a new front cover that you have designed that represents your country.  Insert a new back cover on which you have created and typed titles for ten songs with various aspects of your Latin American country.  You will be writing two songs, based on various aspects of your Latin American Country.   Each song must have at least three verses and one chorus.  Type the songs out (with titles), fold the paper, and place it in the CD cover.  You may also use an online CD cover maker program to create the CD. BOUNUS: If you digitally create or record the songs that you have written you can earn extra credit points. Remember to include traditional sounds and instruments that represent your country.

Venn Diagram
Fill in a compare/contrast chart (Venn Diagram) for Latin American Culture and your culture.  Include 12 or more items (4 in each section) in the chart that are higher-level comparisons/contrasts. Answers such as “both countries,” or “both holidays,” will not be accepted.

Profile Page (30 pts)

Use the Profile Publisher to mock up an online social networking profile that features your “recent” visit to your assigned Latin American country. Include minimum of 7 country aspects in the profile. This profile needs to include amazing details and look professional when finished. You will need to put in the extra effort to earn the extra points!

Newspaper Article (20 points)

Write and then type a full-page newspaper article about 5 aspects of your Latin American country.  Be sure to write it as a reporter.  You must include illustrations with a caption that relates. When selecting the topic for the newspaper article please make sure that you have a minimum of 3 different data/information sources to use as a research source.

Alphabet Book or eBook (30 points)

Each page needs to include the following:

o   A typed sentence about your country using each letter of the alphabet as the first letter of your key word for each sentence (underline key words). The sentence doesn’t have to start with the key word.

o   A picture illustrating the sentence.

o   A typed sentence explaining historic events, tourist sites, food, holidays, housing, transportation, government, customs and how it relates to the picture.

**You may use words that contain the letter for which you are writing a sentence.  For tougher letters such as Q or X use words like unique or excellent. You may do this only 3 times!

Flip Book (20 points)

Create a flip book representing 5 aspects (*see list above) of your Latin American country.  The cover should include the name of the country and an illustration (student created/hand drawn). Each page should have a colored illustrations (student created/hand drawn- neatness and quality count) and a detailed written explanation. In your explanation include first the name of the item and why these items represent this country. Make sure to include a statement for each items about why it is important/significant enough to be selected for example is you included the “Country Flag” your explanation should be able to defend that choice as historically significant to this country with details from history and the flag itself. If you cannot do that for your items you should select different items before constructing the flip book! Use a minimum of 3 sheets of paper for a total of 5 panels plus the cover.
