Mission Statement:  The  mission of the Saville Middle School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to encourage good citizenship in the students of Anthony Saville Middle School.

NJHS made these cute teacher appreciation gifts for the Saville staff in September.  Our students are super sweet for making everyone on staff feel appreciated for all they do!

Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

October 3, 2015

NJHS and StuCo are having a FlapJack Fundraiser at Applebee's in the Best of the West shopping center Saturday, Oct. 3 from 8am to 10am.  We would love it if you could attend.

Tickets are $10 (we get 50% profit) and can be purchased in advance from Mrs. Crecco in room 626 or Mrs. Savage in the library.  If you would prefer, tickets can be purchased at the door.

The breakfast includes all you can eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, and a beverage.  The food is made by actual Applebee's employees and the kids will just be serving the breakfast.

October 1st-30th 

NJHS is collecting books for Spread the Word Nevada.  If you have books you no longer read, bring them to your first period teacher.  The class who brings in the most books will win a snack party.   The goal of Spread the Word Nevada is to promote literacy and to make it possible for all Nevada's children to experience the magic of books.  

Hawktoberfest/Kitty Ward Festival

NJHS students are helping run some booths at Saville's Hawktoberfest and Kitty Ward's Fall Festival.  We hope you enjoy the games and wish you luck at winning a special prize while you have fun playing at the same time.

Halloweengrams


NJHS is fundraising for a leadership trip to Disneyland in the Spring.  Please purchase Halloweengrams in the library or cafeteria before school or at lunch October 19-23 to help us earn money.   They are only .25 cents each!  Buy some today for your friends and they will be delivered during 6th period on October 29th.

Heart and Stroke Walk 


NJHS students will meet at the Fremont Street Experience on November 7, 2015 to participate in the Heart and Stroke Walk benefiting the American Heart Association.  Please follow the link to register to participate with our school team.

November 1st - 25th

Saville students, please lend a hand and bring in non perishable food to your first period teacher.  The class who brings in the most food will earn a snack party.  Food donations will be given to Three Square of Nevada and will help provide food to those in need. 

December 1st - 5th

Help fill a stocking for a child in need. Bring stocking stuffers like candy, make-up, movie tickets, jewelry, socks, gift cards, small toys, hats, slippers, gloves, headbands, brushes, lotion, perfume, markers, or coloring books to your sixth period teacher.   


NJHS Adopt-a-Family

Saville NJHS chose to participate in a service project for the holidays and were matched with and "adopted" two needy families identified by the Department of Family Services (DFS) and provided everything needed to have a happy holiday.  NJHS students and their families purchased gifts, filled stockings and purchased food baskets and then delivered them to the families.

Morning Announcements 

Three NJHS members read the morning announcements per week the months of October, January and May. A total of twelve members per month will share with everyone a bit of inspiration, lead the pledge and notify students and staff on campus what is happening at school!

January Announcers: (12-15th  David, Alexis G and Ashlyn) (19-22th Destiny, Chase, Angela) (25-29th Kristina, Alexis R, Sydnee)

February 2nd - 11th

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue 
NJHS is selling Valentine corsages ($1) for that special someone to you!   We will  deliver the corsage to a person of your choice for an extra .50 cents.

Buy one before school in the library or at lunch in the cafeteria.


NJHS planned an activity to help get students on board as a community of learners who care about each other and do their best to keep everyone safe and comfortable with the wrinkled heart acivity.

NJHS students are running a special Valentine Makerspace activity too. Stop by the library before school Feb. 1-12th to make a "Be Kind Valentine" with our NJHS volunteers and make someone feel special.

Help give our library a heart attack by making "Be Kind" sticky notes to leave in one popular fiction novels. When students check out one of our new books, they will be treated to a positive compliment courtesy of another Saville student.

Teacher Appreciation

NJHS is making pet rocks for our teachers for teacher appreciation week in May.  Members may earn service hours by working on these before or after school during normal library hours posted on my contact page.

March 

NJHS is collecting DVD’s, prepackaged art projects, and jewelry making kits to help children waiting for treatment at Summerlin Hospital – Pediatrics.
  

April 20, 2016 @ 6:00 p.m.

The induction ceremony will be in the gym


The reception will be in the library

Students who successfully complete the selection process which includes a written essay, teacher and community recommendations as well as completing individual and group service hours and maintain a 3.4 GPA for the year are inducted into the National Junior Honor society during a special ceremony on campus.  Students receive certificates and pins to keep as a reminder of the hard work and dedication it takes to be a member of this select organization.

Teacher Appreciation Week 

Attention NJHS students: Please stop by the library to sign-up to help out with teacher appreciation week.  I will need students to help with the teacher appreciation *breakfast, put together teacher gifts, put items in teacher boxes and help with the *teacher car wash.  *Some tasks will require you to miss class

These forms are part of the NJHS selection process.  Please make sure they are completed and turned in by October 20th.  Late or incomplete applications will NOT be accepted!
